ゲーム・eスポーツ・メタバース：デジタルコンテンツビジネスの進化と教育機関の関わり方について
世界のゲームコンテンツ市場はコロナ禍にも関わらず2020年は20兆円を超え、最近はeスポーツのようにZ世代の新しい文化であったり、メタバースのように企業の新規事業取り組みまで、デジタルコンテンツビジネスは進化している。一方、市場の変化が特に激しいため、専門人材が足らず、企業・教育機関での育成が追いついていない部分もあるだろう。「コミュニティ」が鍵になるデジタルコンテンツビジネスに関して、現状どういうことが行っていて、海外ではどういう取り組みが行われているか紹介する。

Baro Hyun（Founder/CEO of LunaTone Inc.）
【略歴】韓国生まれ、米国育ちで2016年より来日。航空宇宙工学博士。著作した技術特許の出願・登録20件程。米国で研究開発としてAir Force/NASAのプロジェクト、2012年から韓国大手自動車メーカーでEV・ADAS自動運転開発を経て、2017年より大手コンサルティング会社へ入社。 入社後はイントレプレナー（intrapreneur）としてARソリューションやeスポーツアドバイザリーを立ち上げ、現在は同社でeスポーツ・ゲーム・メタバース領域を中心にしたデジタルコンテンツ部門をリードしつつ、マーケット専門家としてthought leadershipを提供している。 個人としてもゲーム経験の少ない親世代向けのeスポーツ入門・歴史書「Demystifying Esports」の執筆や「CBS Radio」、「MIT Horizon」、「International Esports Federation (IeSF)」などの海外講演等多方面で活躍している。 創立に加え、2022年からLunaTone Inc.の代表を務めている。 -
[15:05～15:40]Session1「デジタルコンテンツビジネスの現状と専門ビジネス人材の必要性について」
Z世代向けに有効なメディア媒体としてデジタルコンテンツは日々進化している。それに伴い、ゲームのようなコンテンツIPビジネス、eスポーツのようなブランドビジネス、そして近年ではB2B2C事業として注目されているメタバースの影響度が高まってきている。AIやブロックチェーンなどの先端テクノロジーや日本ゲーム産業の発展にも貢献してきたデジタルコンテンツだが、一方で日本の業界としてはビジネス面より物作り職人としての技術開発やコンテンツ制作に注力している印象が強い。少子高齢化など様々な社会課題に向き合っている日本産業の競争力を今後も継続的に強化していくには、デジタルコンテンツ領域における専門ビジネス人材が最も必要になってくる。こうした背景をもとに、関連する国内外の事例を交えながら、日本の現状を整理し、今後の論点について考察する。

[15:50～16:25]Session2「北米大学eスポーツリーグの現状について」
The talks will be a survey of the development and state of collegiate esports in the United States. The talk covers the roots, historical significance, and trends of college esports, as programs that were once the purview of a largely North American bent have gained international interest, from Europe, East Asia, and Africa.
Nyle Sky Kauweloa（Director of University of Hawaii Esports）
【略歴】Sky Kauweloa is the director of the University of Hawaii Esports program and a recent Ph.D. graduate of the Communication and Information Sciences program at UH. His recently completed dissertation looks at the complicated negotiations (between academics and a future esports career) that collegiate players navigate in higher education -- and the possible public policy questions that raise in education within the United States. -

Africa’s Gift: A Pragmatic Solution to the Global Tech Talent Crisis In her presentation, Dr. Laila Macharia describes how Africa and Japan can collaborate to exploit new opportunities and the potential contribution of the Africa Digital Media Institute building the tech workforce of the future. Headquartered in Nairobi, ADMI is Eastern Africa’s premier learn-and-work creative technology community, which over the last 10 years, has trained over 5,000 students from some 30 different countries. ADMI’s apprenticeship platform – the Talent Trove – recruits and oversees top-tier African talent to supplement the creative technology needs of clients worldwide, including LunaTone, Inc., a Tokyo-based Software-as-a-Service platform specializing in digital content such as games, e-sports, and metaverse.
Laila Macharia（Chairman of Africa Digital Media Institute (ADMI)）
【略歴】Raised in Kenya, Namibia and Somalia, Laila Macharia is the Chairman of the Africa Digital Media Institute (ADMI). Headquartered in Nairobi, ADMI is Eastern Africa’s premier learn-and-work creative technology community, which over the last 10 years, has trained over 5,000 students from some 30 different countries.
Together with the Foundation and Studios, the Group forms an innovative career accelerator where creatives and techies get the training, mentorship, and platform to turn their passion into a profession. ADMI’s apprenticeship platform – the Talent Trove – recruits and oversees top-tier African talent to supplement the creative technology needs of clients worldwide.
Laila is also the Chief Executive Officer of Prodigio XR which uses immersive virtual and augmented reality technologies to bring education, event and enterprise solutions to market.
A serial entrepreneur and investor, Macharia serves on the boards of Absa Bank of Kenya and Centum, both listed on the Nairobi Stock Exchange. She also has expertise managing US$ portfolios and transactions in the United States and Africa. At the New York office of Clifford Chance, for instance, she coordinated a US$9 billion multi-currency bond portfolio raising funds for leading financial institutions on the New York, Luxembourg and Nikkei stock exchanges.
Admitted to practise law in Kenya as well as Maryland and New York, Macharia holds a B.A. in Planning & Public Policy from the University of Oregon, a JD and LL.M from Cornell University and a doctorate in law from Stanford University, all in the United States.
Macharia was honored in 2021 as one of the Top 100 Kenyans, in 2010 as a Fellow of the Aspen Institute’s Africa Leadership Institute and in 2012, was named one of the Top 20 Women to Watch in Africa by the Times of London. -
