Development of a 360 Video Player for Head-Mounted Display to Enable Comparison Between Before and After Incident
Hiroyuki Kawakita・Toshiyuki Niida・Kensuke Hisatomi(NHK)
When disaster occurs, viewers can experience horribleness of the damage and the progress in reconstruction through HMD (head-mounted display) as if they were there by recording the 360 videos both immediately after the occurrence and during reconstruction at the same position. It is not easy for viewers to compare two 360 videos captured at the different time by playing each video sequentially because a viewer need to remember where everything was. We have developed a video player for HMD in which the two 360 videos are combined with a vertical plane that passes through the camera as a boundary, which viewers can move horizontally interactively.
