Questioning Strategy for Helping People with Aphasia to Retrieve Words

Asking questions that can be answered with “yes” or “no” is an effective communication strategy to communicate with people with aphasia. We proposed an app that helps people with aphasia to retrieve words by asking such questions. The task of this app is related to Rényi-Ulam games since some of the answers may virtually be lies. Because of those lies, the app sometimes asked too many questions in order to estimate what the people actually intend. In this paper, we propose a method to reduce the number of questions to ask.
