Call for papers - Special issue of "Mobile Systems and Intelligent Transportation Systems that Connect and Create Diverse Realities"

March 12, 2024
Editorial Committee of the Journal of Information Processing

Journal of Information Processing (JIP) is pleased to announce the call for papers for a special issue of “Mobile Systems and Intelligent Transportation Systems that Connect and Create Diverse Realities”.

The viral spread initiated by COVID-19, military conflicts such as Russia-Ukraine and Israel-Gaza, and events like the 2024 Noto Peninsula earthquake have led to rapid changes in the real world, expanding the scope of their impact. Simultaneously, the advancement of AI technologies, exemplified by large-scale language models, continues to broaden their applicability. The trend of open hardware and open software is narrowing the gap between research and development and societal implementation at an accelerating pace. In essence, the concept of 'fluidity of reality' suggests that what held true yesterday may not apply today, marking an ongoing progression. Furthermore, real-world sensing using IoT sensors and LiDAR has become more sophisticated and cost-effective. Emerging technologies such as Digital Twins, capable of replicating and simulating physical spaces and their future states, along with Virtual Reality offering highly immersive experiences, contribute to shaping a new reality by intertwining physical and informational spaces. The diversity of reality is expected to further increase in the future. Under these circumstances, it is timely and meaningful to have special issues dedicated to both technological and social issues.
In the special issue of "Intelligent Transportation Systems and Pervasive Systems that Recreate the Value of Physical Mobility", the program committee especially seeks paper submissions in these areas, as follows.
・Mobile Communication System (Architecture, Protocol, Management, Security)
・Sensor Network, Information Appliance / Home Network, Ad-hoc Network
・Communication Media (5G, LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, ZigBee, IrDA, DSRC, Digital Broadcasting)
・Mobile / Pervasive / Ubiquitous / Wearable Computing
・Mobile Agent, Mobile Web Service
・AI / Edge Computing / Cyber-Physical System
・Mobile Application (Smart Mobility, Healthcare), RFID Tag System
・Intelligent Transportation System
・Geographic Information System, Location-Based Service
・Human Machine Interface High-Performance Handheld Devices, Electronic Payment, Security, QoS, OS
・Transportation Management (Supply Chain Management, Traffic Estimation, and Prediction System)
・Advanced Driver Assistance Systems

Submission Guidelines

(1) All papers must be submitted electronically. Please access the following URL and proceed under the submission instructions:

https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/ipsj

Once you have submitted your manuscript, you cannot change it.
So, you must submit the final version of your manuscript.
If, by mistake, you submitted a wrong version, please contact the IPSJ secretariat <s1m-at-ipsj.or.jp> (Replace -at- with @).

In the event you would like to make a submission, you must first create an account on the paper submission Web page. For detailed information, please refer to the manual available from the link “Instructions & Forms” at the top of the submission page.

(2) All papers will be reviewed. The review process will be carried out in the same manner as regular issues. However, you have shorter time than usual (eight weeks) for preparation of your responses to inquiries.

(3) Submission deadline is August 30, 2024.

(4) The special issue will be published on the J-Stage website in June, 2025. Preprint will be published on the IPSJ Journal in June, 2025.
