Call for papers - Special issue of “Applications and the internet” in conjunction with the main topics of COMPSAC 2023

IPSJ Journal of Information Processing (JIP) is pleased to announce the call for papers for the Special Issue of “Applications and the Internet” in conjunction with the main topics of COMPSAC 2023.
The Annual International Computer Software & Applications Conference (COMPSAC), sponsored by the IEEE Computer Society and also sponsored by the Information Processing Society of Japan (IPSJ), is one of the premium international forums for academia, industry, and government to discuss research results, advancements and future trends in computer and software technologies and applications. Among the topics COMPSAC covers, several symposia cover a broad range of networking and computing technologies and advanced applications and services. COMPSAC 2016 is held at the University of Turin, Italy, on June 26-30, 2023. By taking this opportunity, the Special issue of “Applications and the internet” in conjunction with the main topics of COMPSAC 2023, has been planned to publish articles based on the papers presented mainly in COMPSAC 2023. Your contribution to this special issue would be greatly appreciated.

Journal of Information Processing (JIP) is currently encouraging more submissions from outside of Japan.
The publication fee of any accepted papers will not be charged if all the authors belong to institutes outside Japan. In addition, any accepted papers submitted to this special issue are free of publication charge, even if one or more authors of the paper belong to institutes in Japan. Nonmembers of IPSJ can also submit papers to JIP.

Submission Guidelines

(1) Scope of this special issue includes but is not limited to the following symposia and workshops of the COMPSAC 2023:

・ASYS: Autonomous Systems
・CAP: Computer Architecture & Platforms
・CELT: Computing Education & Learning Technologies
・DSAT: Data Sciences, Analytics & Technologies
・EATA: Emerging Advances in Technology & Applications
・HCSC: Human Computing & Social Computing
・ITIP: IT in Practice
・MOWU: Mobile, Wearable & Ubiquitous Computing
・NCIW: Networks, Communications, Internet & Web Technologies
・SCH: Smart & Connected Health
・SEPT: Security, Privacy & Trust in Computing
・SETA: Software Engineering Technologies & Applications
・SIOT: Smart IoT Systems & Applications

And also topics of Applications and the Internet in General.

This special issue encourages submissions of not only papers based on those presented in past COMPSAC conferences but other papers related to the above topics.

(2) Notice to authors
A submitted paper must have more than 30% additional material beyond the prior publication, including COMPSAC proceedings.
Descriptions on originality and effectivity should also be enhanced with, e.g., more than 25 references (basically English materials except major references related to the submitted paper).
Please inform the editorial committee of this special issue when a submitted paper is a revised and elaborated version of a paper accepted and presented in the main symposium of COMPSAC.

(3) All papers must be submitted electronically. Please access the following URL and proceed under the submission instructions:

Please note that the copyrights of the papers presented in the past COMPSAC are held by IEEE, which requires appropriate copyright handling if you consider revising a COMPSAC paper.

Once you have submitted your manuscript, you cannot change it.
So, you must submit the final version of your manuscript.
If, by mistake, you submitted the wrong version, please contact the IPSJ secretariat <s1m-at-ipsj.or.jp> (Replace -at- with @).

If you want to submit, you must create an account on the paper submission Web page. For detailed information, please refer to the manual from the link “Instructions & Forms” at the top of the submission page.

(4) All papers will be reviewed. The review process will be carried out in the same manner as regular issues. However, you have a shorter time than usual (eight weeks) to prepare your responses to inquiries.

(5) Submission deadline is October 27, 2023 November 10, 2023. *Deadline extended

(6) The special issue will be published on the J-Stage website in August 2024. The preprint will be published in the IPSJ Journal in August 2024.
