Journal of Information Processing (JIP) is pleased to announce the call for papers for a special issue of “the Internet and operation technologies by constructing resilient information systems”.
In today's information-oriented society, information and communication networks and distributed systems represented by the Internet are essential to our lives as basic technologies supporting social infrastructure. Therefore, in order to ensure continuous and stable operation of such information systems, it is necessary to prepare for sudden damage including natural disasters and security measures against human attacks.
In these measures, the system is multiplexed and redundant in order to avoid malfunction of the entire information system due to some malfunction, but the ability to quickly recover the function of the information system is also required from the failures. By enhancing resilience of such information systems, it is possible to realize a robust and flexible information system for disasters, failures and attacks.
In this special issue, we will publish papers on the latest research, development, experiment, and operation for the construction and utilization of the future information and communications infrastructure. We welcome a variety of papers related this theme including practical experiences that can be generalized and useful for readers. Yoshiaki KITAGUCHI at Tokyo Institute of Technology has been invited as a guest editor for this special issue.
Topics of interest include (but are not limited to) the following areas:
  ● Design/construction/operation technology for resilient information systems
  ● Evaluation method for construction of information system resistant to cyber attack
  ● Construction/operation technology for disaster-resistant information system
  ● Evaluation method of cost effectiveness in information system
  ● Operation technology for information system incorporating artificial intelligence technology
  ● Operation technology for information system with new network technology (SDN, IPv6, etc.).

For this special issue, preliminary advice will be provided before the submission deadline for the special issue as an independent trial effort by IPSJ SIG IOT (Internet and Operation Technology). Two advisers will be chosen for each paper and provide advice (e.g. identification of flaws that require major revisions and so can be reasons of rejections at the first review) for the purpose of improving the quality of the paper at the time of initial submission. Therefore, it is not necessary for all authors to apply for the preliminary advice. Please note that compliance with the given advices does not guarantee acceptance of your paper.
* Submission deadline for preliminary advice is March 26, 2018. Please see this page for more information on preliminary advice.

Journal of Information Processing (JIP) is currently encouraging more submissions from outside of Japan.
The publication fee of any accepted papers will not be charged if all the authors of the paper belong to institutes outside Japan.
