Call for papers - Special issue of "Extensions and Advances in Music Information Processing"

Editorial Committee of the Journal of Information Processing

The Journal of Information Processing (JIP) is pleased to announce the call for papers for a special issue on “Extensions and Advances in Music Information Processing”. The great progress in music information processing research in Japan has been supported by the IPSJ Special Interest Group on Music and Computer (SIGMUS), which has celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2013. During this time, with the increasing number of researchers in this area, research activities have expanded both in depth and width, and have also resulted in many practical products/services. Such examples include sophistication of acoustic signal processing and machine learning techniques, realization of large-scale application systems which leverage information on the Internet, spread of new musical instruments/systems with physical interfaces following the Maker movement, and also new ideas generated by blending with other fields of research. This special issue is soliciting papers that cover the wide aspect of music information processing research. Submission of any research work related to the field of music information processing is welcome.

Paper submissions are strongly encouraged to provide multimedia content attachments that enhance understanding of the presented work. In order to provide research results concretely and accurately, IPSJ will archive the multimedia content with accepted papers from this JIP special issue. Attached contents will be judged together with the paper in the review process.

The special issue invites Dr. Shigeyuki Hirai of Kyoto Sangyo University as the guest editor.
