Introducing Scalable Multibranch CI/CD Pipeline

Japan's manufacturing industry is facing a critical challenge with escalating maintenance costs for core IT systems, projected to reach 12 trillion yen annually by 2025, referred to as the “2025 Cliff Problem.” Asahi is experiencing similar issues, where various manual processes and limited development environments have led to poor system maintenance over the past decade. The failure to update middleware and OS versions has caused the system's lifespan to near its end, resulting in high maintenance costs. Without change, these costs are expected to continue increasing. To address this, we propose a Scalable Multibranch CI/CD Pipeline that automates the creation, testing, and destruction of development environments for each source code branch as needed. This solution will enable parallel task handling and allow engineers to safely experiment and test maintenance procedures, and ultimately reduce future maintenance costs.
