We propose a concept for dense formation flying of multiple PicoSats (ultra-small satellites), each equipped with antenna array elements, to function as a large-aperture, high-gain phased array antenna. This configuration aims to enable direct satellite connections to mobile devices, such as smartphones, providing high-bandwidth connectivity to multiple terminals. In this study, we explore the communication potential of phased arrays using PicoSats by simulating beamforming patterns and received signal power on the ground under varying parameters, such as PicoSat attitudes. The simulations aim to identify key factors that must be addressed in the control mechanism for successful implementation.
