Expressway Congestion Simulation Involving Lane Changing

It is well known that under condition of unsteady traffic volume distribution, more drivers tend to comply their driving style. In this situation, drivers might either change their driving speed or change lane which both can lead to traffic congestion. In this paper, we have been focused on congestion resulted by lane changing. Lane changing may frequently happen at the lane drop. Thus, we designed a model with lane drop to simulate behavior of the drivers and originate the congestion. Besides, road agents and vehicle agents are constructed in our model to manipulate the roadnetwork structure and the driver behavior.
