In this paper, we present an approach to complete partial chord progressions. Designed for composition assistance, the system allows users to freely place notes for up to four voices as well as harmonies at any beat in the piece to be composed. The proposed system regards these user-defined notes and harmonies as constraints and uses n-gram statistics obtained from a music corpus to compute the most probable chord progressions that satisfy all user constraints. The obtained chord progressions can then be used to interpolate the missing voice notes. We present results of the algorithm for two different data sets.
