Possibilities of Projecting Signer's Face and Body in Supporting Sign Language Group Communication
○Pedro Couteiro,高橋 伸(筑波大)
Although extensive work has been done on supporting remote sign language communication, little attention has been given to in-loco group communication. This study has first, through interviews and field observation, created a better understanding of the issues that arise when sign language is used in groups, such as poor view angles and turn changing recognition. Later, an approach that uses screen projection was devised to support signers. Through comparing communication in settings with and without support we drew conclusions on what type of technology should be developed in order to support these issues.
