Comparison of In-Vehicle Navigation Guidance by Fixed-Spot, Voice and Gazing-Point

In this study, we use a driving simulator and an eye-tracking device to investigate the stress levels and driving performance under three different methods; two of them, which currently exist; Voice Guidance and Fixed Spot Guidance. The third is our proposed method; Gazing Point Guidance. The proposed method displays navigation information in front of the driver with respect to the eye gazing point. The outcome of this study shows most of the drivers with lower stress levels and better driving performance using the proposed method in comparison with the other two methods.
