Special Interest Group on
System LSI Design Methodology (SLDM)

(Changed from "SIG Design Automation")

Since 1999, Special Interest Group (SIG) on System LSI Design Methodology (SLDM) of Information Processing Society in Japan (IPSJ) has been working on design automation technology of VLSI and System LSI since 1999. The group have been working on the design automation technology for logic synthesis, layout and test, and the results have been widely used for the development of VLSIs.

The SIG SLDM was initially organized in 1971 as "Computer Design Automation" group and the group name had changed several times to cope with hot research topics and to enhance the research areas. The group name was changed to "Electronic Device Design Automation" and then changed to "Design Automation" at 1982. Nowadays, the design automation technology is more relative to the design methodology than before, and recent VLSI can integrate whole digital systems, so the group name has been changed cope with such situation.

SIG SLDM does 4 - 5 meetings per year including Design Automation Symposium, and supports several international workshops including Asian South Pacific Design Automation Conference (ASP-DAC).

The followings are current research areas:

SLDM Organizing Committee Members (2007.5 - 2008.5):
Chair: Shinji Kimura (Waseda Univ.)
Secretaries: Yutaka Tamiya (Fujitsu Lab.), Tohru Ishihara (Kyushu Univ.), Takashi Aoki (NTT)
