国際通用性のある主体的学習者を育むためのラーニングアナリティクス

【セッション概要】全世界から優秀な学生を見出すことを目的とした MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) がここ2〜3年で急速に全世界的に広がった現状は，教育ビッグデータに基づいたラーニングアナリティクスが，国や言語の壁を乗り越えながら国際通用性のある主体的学習者を見出すための重要なツールとなる可能性を示している．本企画では，ラーニングアナリティクスに関する国際会議 LAK2015 が開催される米国ニューヨーク州の Marist College と京都大学を遠隔会議システムにより接続し，国際的に活躍するラーニングアナリティクス研究者による基調講演を行うとともに，同会議に参加者する日本人も交えながらパネル討論を行うことにより，ラーニングアナリティクスに関する最新動向を，学習者の国際通用性に焦点を当てながら議論する．

【略歴】1990年名古屋大学工学部情報工学科卒業．1995年同大学院工学研究科情報工学専攻博士課程満了．2002年名古屋大学情報連携基盤センター助教授，2008年情報連携統括本部情報戦略室准教授，2012年京都大学情報環境機構IT企画室教授，現在に至る．1998年日本音響学会第15回粟屋潔学術奨励賞，2001年電子情報通信学会第57回論文賞．2009年IBM Shared University Research (SUR) Award 受賞．情報処理学会，電子情報通信学会，日本音響学会，日本教育工学会，教育システム情報学会，日本高等教育学会，IEEE，ACM各会員．博士（工学）．情報基盤工学・フィールド情報学・メディア情報学分野における研究者・実践者．現在は，様々な学問分野の人々が多様な活動を行う大学を「研究フィールド」と位置づけ，大学における教育・学習活動や学術研究活動を情報技術により質的転換するための研究開発・実践活動を行うことを通じて，実際の社会生活を豊かにする新しい情報技術や利用技術の実現・普及を目指している．

9:30-10:20 講演（1） Early Alert of Academically At-Risk Students: The Open Academic Analytics Initiative
Eitel Lauría （Marist College School of Computer Science & Mathematics Professor）
【講演概要】This talk reports on the work performed by the Open Academic Analytics Initiative, an on-going research project aimed at developing an early detection system of college students at academic risk, using data mining models trained with student personal and demographic data, as well as learning management system data. We provide an overview of the challenges and design considerations of the predictive modeling process, we report the findings on the predictive performance of those models, their portability across pilot programs in different institutions, and the results of interventions applied on those pilots. In addition to it, we will discuss the international collaboration opportunities through the Open Academic Analytics Initiative.
	【略歴】Dr. Eitel J.M. Lauría is a Professor of Information Technology & Systems and the Director of Graduate Programs at the School of Computer Science & Mathematics, Marist College, Poughkeepsie, NY. Dr. Lauría holds an Electrical Engineering degree from University of Buenos Aires, Argentina (1983), an MBA from Universidad del Salvador, Argentina (1996), and a PhD in Information Science from University at Albany, SUNY (2003). His broad research interests cover the fields of Data Science, Analytics and Business Intelligence. Prof. Lauría's research has been published in a number of prestigious journals, including Decision Support Systems, the European Journal of Operational Research, the ACM Journal of Data and Information Quality, Expert Systems with Applications, and the Journal of Learning Analytics. He is co-author of a textbook on data and information quality published by MIT/IQ. He has served as an information systems and technology consultant to IBM, Microsoft, Exxon Mobil, Reuters, Hewlett Packard, STET France Telecom, GE Global Research, Ryder, and the World Bank among other global corporations. Dr. Lauría is the Analytics Lead of the Open Academic Analytics Initiative (OAAI), a project funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation aimed at increasing college student retention by performing early detection of academic risk using data mining methods. The OAAI at Marist College was named a 2013 Computerworld Honors Laureate in the World-Good category. This project was selected from more than 700 nominations to become one of 269 Laureates from 29 countries.

10:20-10:30 講演（2） A Pathway for International Collaboration on Open Learning Analytics
Roger Norton （Information Technology Dean）
【講演概要】 Dr. Roger Norton, Dean of Marist's School for Computer Science and Mathematics, will discuss several strategic initiatives in the area of learning analytics that Marist is currently leading and discuss potentials ways in which these initiatives might be leveraged to support international collaboration between institutions of higher education in the United States and Japan. This will include an overview of the recently completed New York State Cloud Computing and Analytics Center (CCAC), funded by a $3 million grant from New York States, which is being used in part to support the development of the world's first open-source platform for learning analytics. After briefly reviewing these initiatives, Dr. Norton will lead a discussion to explore potential areas for future collaboration.
	【略歴】Dr. Roger L. Norton is the Dean of the School of Computer Science and Mathematics at Marist College where he has been employed for thirty-four years. He is the Founder and Director of the Institute for Data Center Professionals and a Principal Investigator for a Collaborative Enterprise Computing Community funded by the National Science Foundation. He also recently was the PI for a Marist College $3 million grant from New York State to fund the New York State Center of Excellence in Cloud Computing and Analytics, helping companies to understand and use analytics and cloud computing to help their companies grow. Dr. Norton holds a PhD in Computer Science from Syracuse University, an MA in Mathematics from Brandeis University and a BS in Mathematics from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. His areas of interest include semantics of programming languages, the object-oriented programming paradigm, virtual economies, and distributed computing. In addition to Dr. Norton’s extensive research, teaching and academic leadership experience, he has held senior management positions in industry including his role as the Director of the Center for Mental Health Management Information Systems where he was responsible for the design, installation and administration of numerous networks for various New York State and County Mental Health organizations. Dr. Norton’s entrepreneurial character coupled with his firm belief in the faculty/student research model has prompted him to secure funding for the development of several programs that partner academia with industry including the NYSTAR-designated Center for Collaborative and On-Demand Computing (CCODC) and the New York State Cloud Computing and Analytics Center. He has also obtained numerous grants that support both student research and scholarships. He has made numerous presentations at professional and academic conferences and has authored or co-authored many publications.

【略歴】国際基督教大学・同大学院（教育工学）を経て，フロリダ州立大学大学院博士課程修了．Ph.D.（教授システム学）．カーネギー財団上級研究員・同知識メディア研究所所長，東京大学大学院情報学環客員教授，マサチューセッツ工科大学教育イノベーション・テクノロジー局シニアストラテジストなどを経て現職．国内外でテクノロジーを利用した教育の進展に関するビジョン策定・研究開発・啓蒙活動に従事．主編著に『Opening Up Education: The Collective Advancement of Education through Open Technology, Open Content, and Open Knowledge』（MIT Press, 2008）［共編］『ウェブで学ぶ – オープンエデュケーションと知の革命』[共著]（筑摩書房, 2010）など．

【略歴】MITのCenter for Advanced Visual Studies（高等視覚研究所）で，メディア芸術の教育を研究後，2005年より京都大学学術情報メディアセンターにて，京都大学オープンコースウェア推進業務を始める．2006年日本で初めてオープンコースウェア国際会議をオープンコースウェアコンソーシアムと共に京都大学で行い，約300人の参加者を集めた．現在，京都大学版 MOOC である KyotoUx プロジェクトを推進しつつ，コンピュータによる学びの可能性を研究している．工学博士（東京大学）．

パネリスト：Josh Baron （Academic Technology, Marist College Senior Academic Technology Officer）

【略歴】As Senior Academic Technology Officer at Marist College, Mr. Baron oversees the Office of Academic Technology and eLearning which is responsible for supporting the college's instructional technology initiatives, including distance learning, faculty training, and student support. In addition, Mr. Baron is leading multiple national and international educational technology initiatives which include open-source learning management systems, academic collaboration platforms and learning analytics projects. Mr. Baron was first elected to the Sakai Foundation Board of Directors in 2008 and re-elected for a second three year term in 2011. He served as Foundation Board Chair for three years between 2009 and 2012 and is currently a member of the Apereo Foundation Board of Directors, having served as Chair from 2013-14, which formed from the merger of the Sakai and Jasig open-source non-profit organizations. Over the past two years he has served as the Principle Investigator (PI) for the Open Academic Analytics Initiative (OAAI) which was supported through an EDUCAUSE Next Generation Learning Challenges program and funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. OAAI developed the first ever open source academic early alert system that identifies at risk students and then deploys interventions to improve student success which has been recognized as a 2013 ComputerWorld Honors Laureate and a 2013 Campus Technology Innovator Award winner. Mr. Baron has presented at numerous national and international higher education and K-12 conferences including EDUCAUSE, Campus Technology, NECC, Sloan-C, League of Innovation in Community Colleges, and the International Sakai conferences. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Michigan with a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering and holds a M.S. in Educational Technology Leadership (ETL) from George Washington University through their pioneering online ETL program.

【略歴】1958年京都市生まれ．1985年京都大学大学院文学研究科博士課程修了．大阪大学人間科学部助手，（独）メディア教育開発センター教授・研究開発部長等を経て，2009年より放送大学教授．現在，同教養学部・情報コース主任．総合研究大学院大学文化科学研究科メディア社会文化専攻教授．NPO実務能力認定機構理事，JMOOC事務局次長，（一社）大学ICT推進協議会国際連携室長．専門は教育工学・学習心理学．現在の研究テーマは，地球規模での学習コンテンツ共有再利用流通システムの構築と，学習者個々の学習過程の最適化，ICTを活用した国際ボランティア活動．JMOOCでは学習ログ・ポートフォリオ部会主査を，放送大学MOOCでは「にほんご　にゅうもん（NIHONGO Starter）A1」の主任講師を務める．
