Monolingual, bilingual and multilingual dictionaries are used in most, if not all, translation tasks. However, conventional dictionaries generally do not address problems with word polysemy, and transliteration or translation of proper nouns and names. This paper proposes an approach to calculate the reference value of domain specific bilingual dictionaries based on the Return on Investment metric. This approach uses Wikipedia category tags to define the domain of dictionaries, and to calculate a relative index for domain specific dictionary entries. Lastly, this paper reports an example reference value calculation for three user created domain specific bilingual dictionaries.
