A Survey on Attribute-based Encryption and its Application in Cloud and Mobile Environment

Attribute-based Encryption (ABE) is an encryption scheme that encrypts data with relevance to attributes given to a user in a way that enables fine-grained access control over the encrypted data. For this reason, ABE has many potential areas for application and various ABE schemes were developed to satisfy these needs. Especially in the recent years, application of ABE to mobile devices and cloud computing is considered by many papers. In this paper, while focusing on the application of ABE to cloud and mobile devices, various ABE schemes will be introduced along with its limitations that needs to be overcome.
