Energy Efficient Motion Capturing System Using Functional Vision Sensor

We have developed an energy efficient motion capturing system that transitions automatically among different operating modes. The system has in-pixel nonvolatile analog memory storing data of a reference frame and extracting difference in data between the reference frame and the current frame. There are three operating modes featured: the motion capturing mode, the standby mode and the imaging mode. First in the motion-capturing mode, an analog processor detects difference between the frames while A/D converter is powered-off. In the standby mode, all blocks are halted except the controller. In the imaging mode, the system outputs A/D converted image data.
