This paper aims to find the regional characteristics of household expenditure through analysis of data from approximately 200,000 families. The data is obtained from the user log of Cocomane, a Japanese web service for household accounts. We particularly focus on transportation expenses and heating and lighting expenses, which are expected to reflect the regional condition the most. We used the prefecture of residence in user property to identify the region. To describe the regional condition, average monthly temperature is chosen to represent the climate, and availability of public transportation is examined to study the transportational condition.
