A Pedestrian Navigation System for Thermal Comfort

We present a pedestrian navigation system which improves thermal comfort of trip. It is composed of four key components: the environmental data warehouse, the environmental predictor, the multi-modal sensor fuser, and the dynamic path planner. A wireless sensor network is applied to detect temperature and humidity conditions. Mobile phones are used to perform navigation service. Evaluations have been conducted by using real sensor data and the results show the system can efficiently navigate pedestrians through more comfortable paths as compared to the traditional navigation method.
